Spending money can get you into a relationship but it's hardly enough (although would agree still needed) to keep you in one. Often times, young men try to seek the easy route to a woman's heart by spending money recklessly. However, what they don't realize is that creating that special bond between two people requires many other ingredients; most important of which is to be yourself.
Many potential relationships break in their infancy because guys try to act and behave like someone else in order to create a better impression. For instance, if you feel uncomfortable in a pub, tell her so in the beginning, lest a date at a local pub turn out to be a deal-breaker going forward.
Another necessary ingredient in establishing a healthy relationship is to listen. You may have heard your mom complain that your dad doesn't listen to what she has to say. In fact, this is one of the most common reasons why relationships fail. Girls like to be understood and to be listened to. If you feel like you have a short memory, try to keep a small pad handy and jot down anything material that your girl friend says. Believe me, if you do this right, you will have the slightest of difficulty in figuring out what to gift on her birthday or where to take her for dinner.
Last but not the least is to be punctual. Be on time to pick her up and respond promptly to her voice mail or text. Girls like to be treated like a princess but you can create the same feeling (without burning a hole in your wallet) by making her feel important, by being nice to her and by taking the relationship seriously.
Every relationship is different and what works in one may not work in the other. Least you can do is to follow these simple guidelines, be affectionate and show genuine concern / love for the other person.
